Shelley Fickert | 1984 | Volleyball/Track & Field
Fickert was a four-year letter winner in both volleyball and track during her time at Wayne High School. In 1984, she earned state runner-up honors in the discus. Shelley went on to play collegiate volleyball on scholarship at Wright State University before returning to Wayne to give back as the Warriors’ volleyball coach.

Michael Freeman | 2002 | Football/Track & Field /Basketball
Freeman was a standout three-sport athlete at Wayne High School, earning over 12 varsity letters during his career. He was a national champion in the 4x55m shuttle hurdles and a state qualifier in the 4x400m relay. Following graduation, Freeman continued his athletic career, playing four years of collegiate football at Wittenberg University.

Cory Holman | 2007 | Football/Track & Field/Basketball
Holman was another exceptional three-sport standout at Wayne, highlighted by a national championship in the 4x55m shuttle hurdles and a state runner-up finish in the 4x100m relay. After graduation, he captured a national title in the heptathlon at Rend Lake College before continuing his career at the University of Georgia. As a Bulldog, Holman broke the school record in the indoor heptathlon and set a SEC record in the high jump portion of the event.

Tyree Kinnel | 2015 | Football/Track & Field/Basketball
Kinnel was a three-sport athlete at Wayne, excelling on the football field, basketball court, and track. A dominant defensive back, he played a key role in leading the Warriors to a state runner-up finish in football in 2014. On the track, he earned All-State honors as part of the 4x100m relay team that placed fourth at the state meet. After high school, Kinnel became a four-year letter winner at the University of Michigan, where he was also voted a team captain. Following his collegiate career, he spent time on the practice squads of the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers. He is currently coaching at Middletown High School.

Robert Landers | 2015 | Football/Track & Field/Basketball
Affectionately known as "BB," Robert Landers was a dominant presence on the gridiron at Wayne, recording 153 tackles and 16.5 sacks while helping lead the Warriors to a state runner-up finish in football in 2014. In track and field, he was a state champion in the shot put both indoors and outdoors, and also a state qualifier in the discus and hammer throw. After graduation, Landers continued his football career at The Ohio State University, where he helped the Buckeyes win the 2018 Rose Bowl. Following NFL tryouts, he spent several years playing Arena League Football before transitioning into coaching. He is currently on the coaching staff at Wittenberg University.

Jordan Latimer | 2014 | Track & Field
Latimer was a state champion in both the long jump (indoor and outdoor) and the high jump (indoor) during his time at Wayne, setting school records in both events. After graduation, he competed at the University of Akron, where he earned All-American and All-MAC honors, qualified for the NCAA National Championships, and captured six MAC titles in the long jump.

Javon Marshall | 2009 | Football/Track & Field
Marshall was a hard-hitting safety for the Warriors, known for his physical style of play—highlighted by a remarkable 21-tackle performance against Colerain. His impact on the field earned him a scholarship to Vanderbilt University, where he became a three-year starter and four-year letter winner. On the track, he contributed as a sprinter, helping the Warrior 4x100m relay team to a sixth-place finish at the state meet. Following his collegiate career, Marshall signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons before returning to Vanderbilt to begin his coaching career.

Sean Pugh | 2002 | Football/Track & Field
Pugh was an All-Ohio performer in both football and track at Wayne, playing a key role in leading Warrior Football to their first-ever state championship appearance in 1999. He also earned state honors as a shot putter. After graduation, Pugh continued his football career at Western Kentucky University before discovering his passion for coaching and mentorship. He now serves as the Director of Player Development and Chaplain for the Detroit Lions.

Shelley Schwartzkopf-Bosticco | Class of 1989 | Softball/Basketball
A true scholar-athlete, Shelley excelled both on and off the field at Wayne. She was a standout shortstop and second baseman on the softball team, a guard on the basketball team, and graduated as the valedictorian of the Class of 1989. During her high school career, she was a two-time team MVP, earned 1st Team All-Western Ohio League honors, was named a Southwest District All-Star, All-Ohio Honorable Mention, and received the OHSFSCA Scholar Athlete Award. After graduation, she continued her career at the University of Dayton.

Scott Shrewsbury | 2005 | Soccer
Shrewsbury was a four-year letterwinner in soccer at Wayne, finishing his career ranked 4th in school history with 56 goals. A consistent offensive threat, he was named 1st Team All-GWOC three times and earned 1st Team All-State honors once while playing under Hall of Fame coach Dennis Snider.

Myron Smith | 1965 | Football/Basketball/Track & Field
Smith played under Hall of Fame coach Neal Frame as a running back, setting a school record with an impressive 8.9 yards per carry average. In addition to football, he competed on the varsity basketball and track & field teams, earning a total of nine varsity letters—the maximum possible at the time since freshmen were ineligible for varsity sports. After graduation, Smith received a scholarship to play football at Colorado State University, where he continued his stellar performance with a remarkable 6.6 yards per carry average throughout his collegiate career.

Kevin Swords | 1985 | Soccer/Football/Basketball
Swords was a talented three-sport athlete who excelled in soccer and also contributed as a kicker for the Warrior football team. On the soccer field, he earned 1st Team All-Western Ohio League (WOL) and All-Southwest District honors, and he still holds the school record for most goals scored in a single game with eight. Additionally, he was a two-year varsity basketball player, earning WOL Honorable Mention recognition. As a football kicker, he scored 53 points and set a school record with a streak of 27 consecutive PATs made. After graduation, Swords earned a scholarship to play soccer at the University of Southern Indiana.

Darien Thornton | 2012 | Track & Field/Football
Thornton was a standout two-sport athlete at Wayne, earning seven varsity letters and being named an All-Ohio honoree in track three times. He was the state runner-up in the hammer throw during his high school career. Collegiately, he competed at Grand Valley State University, where he became a national champion in both the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw. Thornton also claimed two GLIAC championships before ultimately competing at the 2016 Olympic Trials in the hammer throw.

D'Mitrik Trice | 2015 | Basketball/Football
Trice was a two-sport standout at Wayne, excelling in both football and basketball. As the quarterback, he helped lead the Warriors football team to a state runner-up finish in 2014 and later that year scored 19 points to help the basketball team capture the program's first state championship in 2015. After graduation, Trice played basketball for the Wisconsin Badgers, where he earned All-Big Ten honors. He is currently playing professional basketball overseas in Slovakia.

Travis Trice | Coach | Men's & Women's Basketball
Coach Trice is the most successful men's basketball coach in Wayne history, leading the Warriors for 10 seasons to a remarkable 197-49 record, including the program’s first-ever state championship during the 2014-2015 season. Afterward, he transitioned to coaching the girls’ basketball program, compiling an impressive 93-27 record from 2016 to 2020. He is currently an assistant coach for the Wright State University men’s basketball team.

Greg Smart | Community Member
Smart was a dedicated sports writer for the Huber Heights Courier, where his "Smart’s Corner" commentary provided valuable insights into athletes and local sports programs for many years. He later served as the paper’s editor but will always be remembered as the passionate sports writer who championed the Wayne Warrior teams.
