After Wayne and Beavercreek tied at 9-9 through one quarter, the Lady Beavers took control with a 25-22 half time lead and extended that to a 37-30 lead through three quarters.
The Lady Warriors proved resilient, though, as they got strong guard play from NaRiya Goddard and Dezirae Thomas paired with some key defensive stops from Nadia Strodes down the stretch to even their GWOC record at 2-2 with a win over the Beavers.
With just under 4:00 to play in the fourth quarter, it was Thomas who put the Lady Warriors ahead with a three pointer as they were able to extend their lead and hold on to the victory.
Goddard added a complete game of 11 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 7 steals, taking command of the offense as she helped guide their comeback attempt. Strodes (8 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal) and Shari Taylor (7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal) did their part as well, coming up with crucial defensive plays in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Warriors have now won two in a row, bringing their record to 4-3 on the year and 2-2 in GWOC play. They will look to extend their win streak on Saturday (12/20) when they travel to Centerville for 6:00 pm matchup.
