Boys Track Wins 4th Indoor State Title

This past weekend, Warrior Track & Field traveled to Spire Academy in Cleveland for the 2026 OATCCC Indoor State Track & Field Championships.

The boys squared captured its 4th indoor state title in school history, including back-to-back titles, by scoring 48 points to beat Westerville Central by 10 points.

The Warriors were led by senior Key'Shawn Garrett, who repeated as state champion in the long jump and junior Keng Martin who was the state champion in the 60m Hurdles. The pair teamed up with Semarion Sroufe and Ryder Penrod to win the 4x200m Relay for the third consecutive year.

Martin broke a school record in his 60m Hurdles with a time of 7.94, breaking Jordan McPherson's (2007) and Justin Harris' (2018) time.

Garrett also placed 2nd in the 200m Dash and 3rd in the triple jump. Martin was 5th in the 60m Dash.

  • Deshawn Fears | 11th in 800m
  • Nehemiah Smith | T-11th in High Jump
  • Grayson Merris | 13th in Pole Vault
  • 4x400m Relay, 12th | Martin, Penrod, Alex Moncrief, James Dyer

The girls placed 9th in the event with 19 points. They were led by sophomore Trinity Perkins who was an individual state champion in the Triple Jump. Other placers include:
  • Samya Wilder | 3rd in Triple Jump
  • Amaya Fleming | 7th in Weight Throw
  • Ma'khayla Bass | 8th in 200m Dash
  • 4x200m Relay, 11th | Bass, Perkins, Wilder, London Evans
  • 4x400m Relay, 15th | Bass, Perkins, Abeer Seneen, Ivy Barbour

Though she didn't place, Bass' time of 57.03 in the 400m Dash brok Trinity Bibbs record of 57.90.

The program will look to use this momentum as they begin their outdoor season with their first track meet on March 27th.
