Lady Warriors Rout Elks in Regular Season Finale

Lady Warriors Basketball hosted Centerville in a makeup date to close out their regular season on Monday, February 9th.

The Lady Warriors got out to a 29-14 lead at half time, thanks in part to four first half triples from sophomore Dezirae Thomas.

Thomas and the rest of the Lady Warrior offense stayed in rhythm in the second half as they extended their lead, culminating in a 57-34 victory and avenging a loss at Centerville in late December.

Thomas led the scoring attack with 21 points including 6/12 from the field and 3/4 from the free throw line while also adding five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Fellow sophomore NaRiya Goddard also added a complete game as the other Lady Warrior in double figures with 17 points (6/10 FG), six rebounds, six assists, and six steals.

The Lady Warriors hit 10 threes in total, with Nadia Strodes (1/2), Shari Taylor (1/6), and Ma'Kya Gantt (2/3) each knocking down at least one.

The win moves Wayne to an even 11-11 (7-7 GWOC) on the year as they are idle until they open OHSAA tournament play. They will await their path when the southwest district seeding meeting takes place this Sunday (2/15) afternoon.
